Double Hung

Double hung windows are the go-to choice for many homeowners across the United States, making them a common sight in neighborhoods. Comprising two sashes that can move independently, these windows offer great flexibility. The convenience of tilting each sash inward makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze. For those considering window replacements, especially for second-story windows where interior cleaning is preferred, opting for double hung replacement windows is a smart decision.

Sliding Windows

Horizontal sliding windows, a beloved choice in mid-century design, function akin to single or double hung windows. However, their distinctive feature lies in their horizontal sliding motion, enabling them to glide effortlessly left and right instead of the traditional vertical movement (up and down).

Depending on your preferences, you can find replacement slider windows in various configurations, such as 2- and 3-lite units, with two sashes that move horizontally.

Alternatively, certain brands offer single slider windows with a sole mobile sash (either on the right or left) while the other remains fixed.

These sliding windows are particularly well-suited for installation above the kitchen sink or any space where proper ventilation holds significance. They can either stand gracefully alone or complement picture windows when paired.

Casement Windows

Casement windows and awning windows are nearly identical in construction, differing primarily in the hinge position. Both feature a single hinged sash that can be opened and closed using a crank. For vinyl casement replacement windows, the hinge can be on the left or right, whereas an awning window is essentially a sideways casement with the hinge at the top. These windows are both operated using a stationary crank making them ideal for areas with obstructive features like cabinets and sinks.

Awning windows have the added benefit of keeping rain out while still being open. Both window types have fold-away cranks that prevent interference with window treatments or furniture.

Casement windows suit spaces where the window is over twice as tall as its width, while awning windows tend to be wider than they are tall.

Hopper Windows

Hopper windows function as single-sash windows that open inward from the top, resembling upside-down awning windows. Their primary purpose is to provide a source of sunlight and ventilation to specific rooms, such as the laundry room, basement, and bathroom, without compromising privacy.By brightening up otherwise dim areas, these windows enhance the overall value of a home. Moreover, when combined with a small, insulated picture window or another window type, they can serve as an exterior outlet for dryer vents.

Picture Windows

Picture windows are a stationary window option suitable for any room in the home, especially in areas where open windows might interfere with external landscaping or features like decks and walkways. Their most significant advantage lies in providing an unobstructed view, allowing for the beautiful outdoor scenery to take the spotlight. These windows come in large sizes, making them versatile replacements for any window style, flooding the room with ample natural light and offering a spacious view.

Besides their aesthetic improvement, ProVia’s windows are known for their high energy efficiency. The larger picture windows can be combined to create a breathtaking panoramic view or paired with casement or double-hung windows to allow for airflow when needed.

Garden Windows

Garden windows have been a long-standing favorite for kitchen windows, located just behind the sink. They serve as a perfect solution to bring in extra light and create a space to nurture small plants or herbs.
Additionally, they can be utilized in bathrooms or dens, functioning as alcoves for decorative accents. With their three-dimensional design, garden windows effectively open up the room, adding a captivating touch to enhance your home’s curb appeal.

Provia offers custom vinyl garden windows, which come equipped with two operable casement windows and two fixed sashes. Both of the operating sashes feature screens to keep insects out. Moreover, our garden windows can be tailored with one or two adjustable glass shelves that boast polished edges, as well as brackets and standards for support.

Bay & Bow Windows

Bay and bow windows add a stunning touch to your home’s exterior by combining multiple windows together. Bay windows and bow windows consist of double hung, casement, and/or picture windows arranged side-by-side at different angles. Bay windows differ from bow windows in a straightforward manner: A bay window comprises a larger window in the center flanked by narrower windows on each side, all set at angles.

These windows can be fixed, double hung, or casement. On the other hand, a bow window consists of four or more windows of equal size, set at angles to create an arched projection. As with bay windows, the components of a bow window can also be fixed, double hung, or casement.

Installing bay or bow windows as replacements for double hung windows or standard picture windows adds a touch of elegance to living rooms or master suites. Additionally, these windows often come with a cozy window seat, perfect for relaxing with a good book or simply enjoying the beautiful view.

Architectural Windows

Architectural windows, also known as custom window shapes, add remarkable curb appeal to your home, serving as the perfect finishing touch for any exterior home improvement project. Available in various sizes and forms, these windows can be used independently to create a striking focal point or combined with other windows to offer a breathtaking view of your property.

Their unique designs effortlessly complement your home’s style and allow abundant natural light to illuminate your space.  Whether positioned above standard windows or accentuating a patio door, these shaped windows add a touch of elegance. Energy efficiency, ventilation, and views differ based on whether they are fixed or operable, as well as the chosen window brand and glass options.
